3,000M Deepwater Semi-Submersible Drill Rig -- Designed by Marine Design & Research Insititute of China
The Deepwater Semi-submersible Drilling Unit "Hai Yang Shi You 981" is built for China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). It has twin shaped lower hulls supporting four (4) corner columns, transverse braces, and a watertight selevated deck.
The Unit is capable of drilling as dynamically positioned (DPS-3) drilling unit in water depths up to 3,050m (10,000 ft), drilling depths up to 10,000m (32,800 ft) for operations in moderate environments, and conventionally moored in water depths up to 1,500m (4,921 ft).
